It's been a while since Cagewriter has awarded the facepalm of the week award, but it's time to give it out for two fighters who were arrested recently.
The first one goes to Jason "Mayhem" Miller, the fighter who also hosts "Bully Beatdown" and will be featured as a coach on the upcoming season of "The Ultimate Fighter." TMZ reports that he was arrested in North Carolina for false imprisonment and simple assault after he reportedly put his sister in a headlock and wouldn't let her leave a party.
The second, heartbreaking facepalm goes out to Rasul Mirzaev, a Russian fighter who was expected to make his American debut in Bellator this fall. He was reportedly arrested and charged in the death of a student in Moscow. Mirzaev allegedly was in a verbal altercation with the student and threw a single punch, which knocked the student out. He died four days later, and Mirzaev faces up to 15 years in jail.
In both cases, fighters used their physical skills outside of the cage against people who weren't equipped to defend themselves. A facepalm isn't strong enough to show disgust in these cases.

Alexander Gustafsson opened some eyes in Philadelphia and around the world of mixed martial arts. The 24-year-old Swede took out a guy that most have had a tough time with in Matt Hamill. Gustafsson stunned Hamill with a straight left and two powerful uppercuts with the right, and Hamill hit the deck. Gustafsson did major damage on the ground and referee Dan Miragliotta saved Hamill at 3:44 of the second round.
Hamill (10-4, 9-4 UFC) was a bloody mess around his mouth and his left eye was nearly closed after that 30 second pounding by Gustafsson. Keep in mind, this is the same Hamill who went the distance with Quinton "Rampage" Jackson less than three months ago at UFC 130. He also took out Tito Ortiz in 2010.
Gustafsson (12-1, 4-1 UFC) employed a smart gameplan in the opening round. He told Joe Rogan he wasn't comfortable, but what he did right was stay on the move. Hamill was clearly in less than stellar shape and looked tired early in the second round.
Hamill lacked explosion on several takedown attempts in the first round, that seemed to give Gustafsson confidence heading to the second. According to FightMetric, Hamill was 0-for-6 on takedown attempts. Without fear of being put on his back, Gustafsson began to charge forward with punches and kicks.
This was just the second time in his MMA career that Hamill lost via stoppage.

Good thing Randy Couture has thick skin. Otherwise he shouldn't be in the fight prediction game because inevitably there will be some fighters who get irked when he picks against them. Couture already got an example of that when Quinton "Rampage" Jackson lashed out calling the retired fighter "decrepit."
"I didn't even tune into all of that. I knew where it was coming from. Timing is everything," Couture told "The MMA Insiders" on ESPNRadio1100/98.9 FM (4:30 mark). "There were negotiations between the parent company for Affliction and Rampage for a new contract. [...] He wanted a reason to go with Elite and it coincided with me inadvertently giving a pick on the fight with Matt Hamill."
Couture does a series of picks on video with Affliction and its president Tom Atencio. Before UFC 130, Couture chose Hamill over Jackson. Jackson rolled to an easy three-round victory.
"I try to be as objective as I can. Rampage and I have been friends. for a long time. I was shocked that he was that upset about a stupid pick. I was the first one to say 'I got that one wrong,'" said Couture.
Couture sat down for 45 minutes with the ESPNRadio1100 crew. In this segment, he also spoke about Dan Henderson and his future. Couture gave the latest update on his movie career. You can listen to the entire Friday edition of "The MMA Insiders" here.
