Josh Barnett: I've Considered Walking Away From Organized MMA

Josh BarnettIt took Josh Barnett a little bit to clear the cobwebs and open up, but when he did on Monday's edition of "The MMA Hour," he had plenty to say.

Barnett, in the studio with host Ariel Helwani for Monday's show, touched on a host of subjects, from his current suspension by the California State Athletic Commission for a third positive test for banned substances to his upcoming participation in Strikeforce's heavyweight tournament.

But perhaps most surprisingly, Barnett said he has considered walking away from the sport.

"The thought has crossed my mind to quit even dealing with organized mixed martial arts in general and just fight my own fights, however I feel like," Barnett said. "The fact of the matter is, I fight because I have to - because it's a thing that drives me, not because of anything else."

UFC NEWS: Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone makes UFC debut as injury replacement for Sam Stout against Paul Kelly at UFC 126

Donald Cerrone will be making his UFC debut a bit ahead of schedule, as he is stepping up on a month's notice to face off against Paul Kelly at UFC 126.

The news comes from MMAWeekly.com, who reports that Kelly's originally scheduled opponent, Sam Stout, has pulled out of the event with an injury. "Cowboy" has stepped up to replace him.

Cerrone enters the UFC on the back of two consecutive victories to close out his WEC career. After avenging his loss to Jamie Varner in perhaps his most impressive performance in the WEC, and then submitted Chris Horodecki in the final event in the organization's history.

Kelly looks to continue his momentum following a second round TKO victory over T.J. O'Brien at UFC 123 in November. It was his third win in five fights at lightweight in the UFC.

UFC 126 airs live on pay-per-view from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on February 5, headlined by the Middleweight Championship bout between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort.

Penick's Analysis: This is a good fight for Cerrone to take in his UFC debut. He's still fresh off of the Horodecki fight, didn't take much damage and can absolutely come in and compete with Kelly. If he can pick up this win it will make for a good start for him in the Octagon. Being on this big of an event as well, an impressive win will get him on the broadcast. This is a very good late replacement for this event.

UFC 125: Dong Hyun Kim Beats Nate Diaz

by Michael David SmithAfter 15 hard-fought minutes, Dong Hyun Kim won a close unanimous decision against Nate Diaz at UFC 125.

The crowd booed the decision, but it was the right one, and it improved Kim's record to 14-0-1. Diaz falls to 13-6.

After they traded leg kicks for the first minute of the fight, Kim took Diaz down and got on top of him. Diaz has an effective guard and stays active on his back, but Kim was able to pull away from danger every time Diaz attempted a submission, and I thought Kim was in control for enough of the first round to earn a 10-9 round.
