Strikeforce using Facebook to search for Ring Girl

With the heavyweight Grand Prix starting this weekend, Strikeforce is on the lookout for the one piece missing from their promotion -- a ring girl. Women aspiring to hold up cards between rounds, wear bikinis in cold arenas and stare into the distance during weigh-ins are encouraged to shoot a 30-second video and share it on Strikeforce's Facebook page. Strikeforce fans will then have a chance to vote for their favorite lady, and the winner will be announced at the Strikeforce event in Columbus in March.

Strikeforce generally uses the Rockstar Energy Girls, headed by Kelli Hutcherson, to handle ring card girl duties. The women who are usually identified with Strikeforce are their fighters, like Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos and Miesha Tate, but they clearly want to bring in more fans to their Facebook page. Using a Ring Girl contest will definitely help that.

Jon Jones Submits Ryan Bader at UFC 126, Earns Title Shot

by Michael David SmithJon Jones accepts title shot against Shogun RuaJon Jones has proven that he's the best young light heavyweight in mixed martial arts. Now he'll get a chance to prove that he's the best light heavyweight of any age.

In a battle of the UFC's two best light heavyweight prospects, Jones dominated Ryan Bader at UFC 126, thoroughly controlling him in the first round and then forcing him to tap out with a guillotine choke in the second. Then, after the fight, UFC announcer Joe Rogan revealed that Jones will get the next shot at light heavyweight champion Shogun Rua, replacing the injured Rashad Evans.

"It's my time, I'm hungry and I'm going for it," Jones said after the fight.

Belfort Says Silva Trained And Got Lucky With Front Kick

Vitor Belfort was on the receiving end of one of the most devastating front kick ever seen in mixed martial arts this past weekend at UFC 126 and tells Tatame.com that his opponent, UFC Middleweight Champ Anderson Silva, trained and got lucky with the shot that sent him to the canvas:

"Look, that kind of kick is very hard to catch, it?s also hard to fit it too, but he did it. He can use this kick, but the way he did is pretty difficult to, but he did it. I believe you only get lucky if you train. He trained and got lucky. But I think it?s something that if he tried to do in ten fights he would only be succeeded once (laughs). He deserved it. I was doing fine on the fight, I was winning it, but I wasn?t lucky to fit that punch, I missed it, that punch on the ground was really powerful. If it hits him? But it didn?t and his kick hit me hard, it was his night, I can?t help it. Everything I promised to do, I did. I didn?t get the win, but it?s part of the sport. I?ll get my chance. We?ll work now so I get it the next time."
